Custom Journeys

Some trips don’t come in a package: three countries, two rivers, a week on the water and a long weekend in a food town. I build them in layers.

Some Trips Are Better When They’re Built Around You

Maybe you’ve been dreaming about exploring Italy beyond the usual stops, tasting your way through the wine regions of France, or experiencing an African safari before spending a few days relaxing on the beach.

Or maybe you have a few ideas but aren’t quite sure how to bring them together.

That’s where I come in.

I love taking those ideas, getting to know what matters to you, and creating a trip that feels like it was made just for you. Because it was.

It’s All About the Details

One of my favorite parts of planning custom journeys is finding experiences you might not have discovered on your own.

It could be a private guide who brings a historic city to life, a visit to a small family-owned winery, or a special experience that turns out to be one of your favorite memories.

Sometimes it’s even suggesting a destination or experience you hadn’t considered.

But just as important is knowing when not to plan something. I want you to have time to enjoy where you are, whether that means lingering over lunch, exploring a neighborhood, or simply taking a slower day.

Making It All Fit Together

A wonderful trip isn’t just about where you go. It’s also about how the journey flows.

When you’re visiting several destinations, the order matters. So does how long you stay, how you travel between places, and how much you try to fit into each day.

I start with the big picture and build from there, adding the accommodations, experiences, guides, and restaurant recommendations that make the trip yours.

I enjoy figuring out those details so you don’t have to.

The goal is a trip that feels well planned without feeling overly scheduled.

Places I’ve Explored. Journeys I’ve Planned.

Europe is a place I know especially well, having traveled through 17 countries. Those experiences have given me an appreciation for the differences between destinations and the little things that make traveling through them easier.

But custom journeys can take you almost anywhere.

I’ve planned African safaris, including a private journey through Tanzania and Zanzibar for six friends. I’m also planning a journey combining the Galápagos Islands, Machu Picchu, and an Amazon River cruise, bringing together wildlife, history, and remarkable landscapes.

These are the kinds of trips I especially enjoy creating. Finding experiences that complement one another, figuring out how to connect the destinations comfortably, and making sure there’s enough time to truly appreciate each place.

Whether you’re dreaming of a safari, exploring South America, discovering Europe’s food and wine regions, or bringing family and friends together for a special trip, we’ll start with what interests you and build from there.

Better Together, or Beautifully on Your Own

Some trips are about bringing people together. A group of friends celebrating a milestone, a family exploring somewhere new, or several generations sharing an experience.

Others are about setting off on your own and discovering what you enjoy at your own pace.

I plan both.

For groups, I’ll help coordinate different schedules, interests, and details so one person doesn’t end up managing the entire trip.

For solo travelers, we’ll create a journey that offers the right balance of independence, experiences, and support.

Whatever the occasion, the trip should feel comfortable, enjoyable, and right for the people taking it.

Questions About Custom Journeys

What makes a custom journey different from a packaged tour?

A custom journey starts with you rather than a predetermined itinerary.

We’ll talk about where you want to go, what interests you, how you like to travel, and the pace you prefer. From there, I’ll bring together the destinations, accommodations, and experiences that make sense for your trip.

Some days may be filled with activities. Others might be left open to explore on your own.

Is there a planning fee for custom itineraries?

Our first conversation is complimentary.

For more complex, multi-destination, or highly customized trips, a planning fee may apply. I’ll always explain that upfront so you know what to expect before we begin.

Do you plan African safaris?

Absolutely. I’ve planned African safaris and can help you explore different destinations, accommodations, and experiences.

There’s a lot to consider, from the time of year and wildlife you’d like to see to the style of accommodations and how many places you want to visit.

I enjoy bringing those pieces together, whether you’re dreaming of a classic safari or combining time in the bush with other destinations.

Can you plan trips for families and groups?

Absolutely. I plan trips for groups of friends, multigenerational families, and travelers celebrating special occasions.

Whether everyone is traveling together or arriving from different places, I’ll help coordinate the details and create a trip that works for the group.

Can you help if I’m traveling on my own?

Of course. Whether you’re an experienced solo traveler or planning your first independent trip, I can help create an itinerary that balances freedom with thoughtfully arranged experiences.

We’ll talk about what you’re comfortable with and how much structure you’d like along the way.
